Just say No to NaNoWriMo?

That’s what I ought to do…

Because November is impossible: report cards, parent conferences, and travel for a family wedding. But it’s only 1700 words a day; how hard is that? (Ha) By month’s end, 50,000 words. (Ha)

But the communal whining of thousands of writerly participants is too appealing. So here I am again, taking the NaNoWriMo plunge.

This year, I’m using NaNo’s momentum to work on Persuading Elizabetha, my just-for-fun piratical romance. (You can read what I’ve done so far at Beyond Austen. It’s in the Non-Austen forum.)

I’ve decided to focus on the green calendar thingy for motivation. Green means I’m on track for the day. Yellow means I’ve posted something, but not enough. Red? Er, I forgot to post my word count for the first day! Not the best beginning…
