Wake up, weekend sleepyhead! It’s Warrior Time! We’re off and running with 8 – 10 lines from a work-in-progress.

I’ll be sharing from As Only A Woman Can, a Pride & Prejudice-based romantic romp.

Skipping ahead to the next chapter, we see Elizabeth Bennet receive something in the post. We know it’s the Valentine that Mr. Darcy has sent in secret.

Darcy has written a poem to give a clear warning against Mr. Wickham, or so he thinks …

Presently, half-hidden in a wingchair before the parlor fire, Elizabeth broke the seal. So great was her surprise that she almost dropped the card. The direction was clear—this was meant for her.  Moreover, the poem contained a warning: she was being gulled by a scoundrel.

In other words, fooled by a man who was not what he claimed to be.

The only infamous person Elizabeth could think of was Mr. Darcy. He was wretchedly proud and cold of heart, plus he had cruelly wronged Mr. Wickham.

But was the man a scoundrel? According to the sender, yes!
